Winterpackages

Skitouring has become more popular in recent years and is our favourite winter activity. Zakopane and the surrounding Tatra Mountains offer some of the best opportunities to learn this sport and explore the mountains on skis. Skitouring is a great workout and a lot of fun. We offer tours for complete beginners as well as people who have done it and want to explore our mountains . The trip includes transport from your place of stay and back (around Zakopane).

IMPORTANT! You need to be able to ski down a red slope comfortably to try skitouring.

What is included:

  • Transport from and back to your place of stay in Zakopane.
  • Beginner tours last around 4-5 hrs.
  • Qualified instructor who is also a mountain guide to help you rent the gear and show you all the technicalities of this sport.
  • Intermediate to advanced tours last around 6-8 hrs.

There are some amazing ski touring routes in the Tatra mountains and if you've never tried it before then you definitely should. It is however compulsory that you know how to ski before attempting to do skitouring. The basics are the same but as the skis and equipment are different and you are mostly not on prepared slopes it can be much more difficult.

For complete beginners we offer full and complete support, going through the basics of skitouring, teaching you how the equipment works and also guidance with best practice for future outings. The route is not hard and also not very steep, giving you a chance to practise walking on the skis and skiing down.

For those who have tried it before and, like us, can't get enough of it, we offer a variety of routes in the area. We will check your skiing skills and enquire about your fitness level to make sure that we find the best suited routes for your individual abilities.

What's not included:

  • Gear: skis, skins, boots, poles, helmet + goggles and sunglasses, crampons, ice axe (if necessary)
  • Clothes: For skitouring we recommend something warm and breathable, best to wear layers.
  • Avalanche safety set (transceiver, shovel, probe)
  • Snacks or drinks: For longer tours we recommend that you bring water/hot drink and snacks.
  • Lunch: Some routes go past mountain huts and you could stop for a quick warm tea or soup.

Other useful info

  • Skitouring is a very good form of exercise and you will definitely get a good workout from the tour.
